An Evening with Dan Cruickshank
Thursday 25th May 2023
Join us on Thursday 25th May for an evening with Dan Cruickshank, Architectural historian, writer and BBC television presenter, in association with Towergate Insurance.
During a fascinating evening at The Garden Rooms at Tennants, Dan Cruickshank will explore the cultural history of the world through architecture, discussing how buildings are instrumental in fostering a sense of identity and pride, why they are vital to society, and why we must fight for the survival of our historic buildings. He will take a closer look at inspirational architecture in the British Isles, with a focus on much loved locations in North Yorkshire. He will also examine how historic sites suffer during conflict and when culture and politics collide, taking sites such as Palmyra in Iraq and vulnerable sites in Ukraine as case studies.
