Cole, Sarginson & Hicks: A Northern Legacy
We are delighted to present a new exhibition of the work of three important North East artists: Joe Cole, Peter Sarginson and Peter Hicks. It will be the first time the three artists’ work has been shown together outside of Cork Street, London.
Joe Cole, as well as being a gifted artist, was an inspirational teacher at Middlesbrough College of Art, responsible for shaping the careers of numerous artists. This exhibition will present a selection of his works alongside those of two of his most celebrated pupils, Peter Sarginson and Peter Hicks.
All three artists drew inspiration from the landscapes they knew intimately, and the exhibition will explore Cole’s own work including that created whilst fighting in the Second World War, and Peter Sarginson and Peter Hicks’ deeply felt landscapes of their home territories in the North East of England.
Many of the works will be for sale.
The exhibition is free to enter.
