To accompany the "Art of Handgraving" Exhibition, there will be a talk by John Andrew, Curator of the Pearson Silver Collection:
‘WHY WAS THERE A RENAISSANCE IN BRITISH SILVER POST 1945?’ John Andrew has the answer.
It is one of Britain’s best-kept secrets: the UK is now a centre of excellence for silver designers and superb craftsmanship, but how did this happen? Join John Andrew, Curator of the Pearson Silver Collection to discover the catalyst for a creative explosion in British Silver following World War II. This intriguing and fascinating talk involves a cast of characters, including Royalty, the Government, the Armed Forces, and those in the Arts who all contributed to the bloom in creativity which produced ‘silver the likes of which has never been seen before’. This talk will show you what the result was….and still is.
