YDMT Amateur Photography Competition 2023
**CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES - 30TH APRIL**
The Garden Rooms at Tennants and charity Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust are delighted to announce the launch of their 2023 Yorkshire Dales Photography Competition – and are now inviting entries from talented amateur photographers.
The Yorkshire Dales has a unique charm and beauty - a landscape and people like no other. Windswept moors, verdant dales crisscrossed with drystone walls, traditional farming communities and bustling market towns. The Dales have inspired countless artists over the centuries, and we are now inviting you to pick up your camera and capture what the Yorkshire Dales means to you, be it the people, the landscape, or the wildlife.
Seek out a new perspective on the Dales – find a new angle on a classic scene, head off the beaten path, or tell a fresh story with your photographs.
Thirty-five finalists will be selected from the entries, whose work will be included in our gallery exhibition, which will run from 18th June – 2nd July. We are delighted to have adventurer and author Alastair Humphreys joining the judging panel this year. As a Yorkshireman himself, Alastair shared one of his favourite spots, saying, “My favourite views are being high up on the valleys above spots like Keld and Muker”. Over a four-year period, Alastair bicycled 46,000 miles (74,000 km) around the world. He was a National Geographic Adventurer of the Year in 2012, and is responsible for the rise of the idea of the microadventure, short, local, accessible adventures.
Visitors to the exhibition will be invited to vote for their favourite. The overall winning entry, as voted for by the public, will receive a prize of a £100 photographic voucher and a Yorkshire Hamper. Twelve images from the final 35 will be selected by the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust for their 2024 Calendar.
