Tennants is set amongst the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Dales, just outside the boundary of the beautifully preserved National Park.
We are located on the A684, around a mile from the picturesque market town of Leyburn.
We are a 20-minute drive away from the A1(M), a 30-minute drive from the nearest mainline station (Northallerton), and just over an hour's drive from Leeds & Newcastle.
Our address is Tennants Garden Rooms, Harmby Road, Leyburn, DL8 5SG.
There is no overnight accommodation on site at Tennants. As we are situated in a popular holiday destination, there is plenty of overnight accommodation within easy reach of The Garden Rooms. You can find a list of accommodation providers here.
The Garden Rooms as a whole is open 7 days a week (excluding Bank Holidays).
The Garden Rooms encompasses the following;
- Display Galleries - Open 7 days a week
- The Bistro - Open 7 days a week
- The Gift Shop - Open Monday-Saturday
- The Café - Open Monday-Saturday
Tennants Auctioneers is open 5 days a week (Mondays-Fridays)
Both our Café & Bistro offer a wonderful space to take some time out of your day, meet with friends & family and most importantly enjoy some delicious food & drink.
Our Bistro is the slightly more formal of the two, offering a refined yet welcoming atmosphere. A thoughtful mix of booth seating and round tables creates flexibility for both intimate dining and larger group gatherings. The Bistro offers a la carte dining, with elevated yet traditional Sunday roasts, creative weekday lunch dishes and elegant Afternoon Teas.
The Café offers a laid-back environment, whether you choose to sit at our reclaimed wood tables or at the breakfast bar - the space is ideal for light lunches and relaxed catch-ups over coffee and cake. Our varied menu offers a hearty selection of breakfast classics, homemade cakes, light lunches and comforting main dishes.
Booking is not essential but is strongly advised to guarantee your table.
Bookings are allocated for 2 hours in the Bistro and 1 hour in the Café, giving you plenty of time to enjoy your dining experience with us.

We are happy to accommodate allergies & dietary requirements.
Where possible, we will be able to swap single ingredients to make the dish suitable for you. If this is not possible, then we may need to substitute the dish completely to create a suitable alternative, however we will always aim to match our normal menu where possible.
We will ensure your needs are catered for, as safety, comfort and peace of mind during your visit are our utmost importance.
We are sorry that we do not accept payments by American Express.
We do not have a cashpoint on site. The nearest cashpoints can be found within the market square of Leyburn (approx. 0.7 miles from Tennants).
We do not have an electric vehicle charging point on site. To find the nearest one please visit ZapMap
Please be assured that our venue is accessible. We have designated accessible parking spaces within close proximity to the automatic door entrance, with dropped kerbs on the pavement outside for easy access.
On the ground floor you will find the Café, Bistro, Gift Shop, Lower Gallery and the Auction Centre. The venue is very spacious to allow for wheelchair users to easily manoeuvre around the building. There is a disabled toilet within the Café, the Bistro, and on the Lower & Upper Gallery.
If you do wish to visit the first floor to view our exhibitions and galleries, or to go to the Seminar Rooms, Private Lounge or Mezzanine, we have lift access.
We have baby changing facilities in our Café.
We also have an accessible toilet on the Lower Gallery with a baby changing table.
Dogs are not permitted inside the building, with the exception of guide dogs.
We have an outdoor seating area outside both the Café and Bistro, which is partially covered with heaters on the wall, if you would like to dine outside with your furry friend.
We offer free WiFi which does not require a password to connect.

There are multiple ways you can book tickets for an event
- By calling Reception on 01969 621146 to pay over the phone
- By visiting our Reception desk
- By booking online via TicketSource (booking fee applies)
Please call Reception on 01969 621146 or email info@tennantsgardenrooms.com and we can send your ticket to you again. We will always have a list of attendee names during an event so can accept entry without a ticket.
Paid tickets are non-refundable as per our T&Cs (unless purchased online via TicketSource with the addition of XCover.com booking refund protection)
In the instance where the event is sold out with a waiting list, we will endeavour to sell your ticket to the waitlist. If we have been successful, we would be able to offer a refund for the ticket cost (not including any online booking fees).
