A Musical Christmas Celebration

North Yorkshire’s new pocket-sized orchestra presents an early celebration of Christmas, a mixture of traditional favourites and less familiar gems. Baroque music in the first half, with Corelli’s Christmas Concerto, Vivaldi’s Concerto for 4 Violins, and Telemann’s Trumpet Concerto. After the interval there’s music with a Christmas theme by Vaughan Williams, Josef Suk and Florence Price. The singing starts with carols by John Rutter sung by members of the Swale Singers and Richmond Choral Society, and finally it’s the audience’s turn to join in some traditional carols, with trumpeter Michael Atkinson providing sparkling descants!
